Color Quest Quilting Camp: A STEAM Adventure in Fabric!

Kick off your quilting journey with a creative two-day camp that blends art, science, and sewing! We’ll start our adventure with a fun Challenge Island STEAM activity where campers explore the science of color—learning about color mixing, contrast, and how different combinations create exciting visual effects.
Then we’ll bring those discoveries into the sewing studio! Students will learn the basics of quilting while creating their very own four-patch lap quilt. Along the way they’ll discover how quilters use color placement to make designs pop.
Campers will learn essential beginner skills including:
-
Safe use of a rotary cutter
-
How to cut fabric using the AccuQuilt GO! cutter
-
Accurate piecing and seam allowance basics
-
Pressing techniques
-
Assembling quilt blocks and turning them into a finished lap quilt
By the end of the camp, each student will go home with a completed quilt top (and possibly finished quilt depending on pace!), new sewing skills, and a deeper understanding of how color and creativity work together.
All supplies are included, including fabric and select tools to use during camp. Students should bring their own sewing machine, or coordinate with the instructor ahead of time, as a limited number of loaner machines are available. Campers are also welcome to bring any of their favorite sewing tools if they have them.
Perfect for creative kids who love making, experimenting, and learning new skills!
