Scrappy 60's
Day one, Amy will teach you the basic Star 60 unit and day two, you will expand on your basic Star 60 knowledge to make great 3-D blocks – all while using your scraps and some background fabric.
During this class, you will explore different ways of putting your units and blocks together into a quilt. We will also talk about color placement and color families versus a more random approach.
**Required Materials for Class:
- Studio 180 Design Star 60 tool
- Studio 180 Design Capped 60 Technique Sheet
- Scrap Fabrics or yardage of your choice. Bring more than you think you will need so you have a good variety. We can also share and swap fabrics. Day One we will be using 1.25” x approx 9” strips.
- Background Fabric – this will vary depending upon your quilt design. Five yards should be sufficient for at least a lap/throw size quilt. Your background can either be all one fabric or several fabrics of the same color family (for example, you could choose 3-5 different cream fabrics, or 3-5 different black fabrics)
- Sewing machine in good working order, along with your power cord and foot pedal. It is a good idea to bring your manual as well.
- Rotary Cutter and at least a 6’ x 12” ruler
- Basic Sewing supplies (thread for piecing, small scissors, pins, marking pen, etc.)
